About
Lucy was born and raised in downtown Chicago, Illinois. From a rather early age, she was immersed in the world of entertainment. Some of her earliest memories stem from sitting on her dad’s orange beanbag chair watching black and white reruns of “I Love Lucy” - starring the one and only Lucille Ball! She was instantly captivated by Ball’s work, and she knew she wanted to grow up and be just like Lucy.
While growing up she did ballet and figure skating. When it came time for high school, she auditioned into the private performing arts high school - The Chicago Academy for the Arts. There, she majored in Theatre and had a wide array of conservatory training spanning from stage craft to stage combat. Also while in high school, Lucy became rather active in the Chicago theatre scene. Her junior year - she was one of 20 Chicagoland girls selected to partake in the Cindy Bandle Young Critics Program at the Goodman Theatre. From there, she was asked to join GYAC - the Goodman Youth Arts Council - and was an active member for two seasons. Her senior year of high school she had the incredible opportunity to intern at the Steppenwolf Theatre.
In August of 2014, Lucy made the big move to New York City for college. She attended The New School for Drama - where she received her BFA in Dramatic Arts (May 2018). Moving to the Big Apple, motivated Lucy to push herself harder than ever before. She graduated undergrad with not one but two minors from Parsons: New School for Design. The first minor in Fashion Communications and the second in Photography.
Her intense academic studies led her to unique internship and employment opportunities. In Spring 2017, she was a Teaching Artist Intern for Wingspan Arts. She taught first and second graders theatre, on the Upper East Side, at an in school residency. During her senior year (2017/18) she was hired to be the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for the fashion startup Denimrush. Most recently, Lucy has been working in the production office for the critically acclaimed photographer Mark Seliger.
If that was not enough schooling for the Chicagoan turned New Yorker - Lucy pushed herself even further and is expected to graduate May 2019 with her Master of Arts in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship.
"What can you say about a girl who in the course of a year managed to graduate with a BFA in Dramatic Arts from the New School with a couple of minors in fashion communication and photography thrown in for good measure from Parsons New School of Design and now is graduating with her Masters in Arts Management and Entrepreneurship?
You could say that THAT was a long run on sentence but I could also run on and on about this uber talented girl who also loves Lucille Ball so much she actually legally changed her first name!!
A year ago I had the very good fortune to be interviewed on film by Ms. Lucy Edlund as part of her graduation thesis on the aforementioned Queen of Comedy, LUCY! It was a day I will never forget. Her passion for her art and for her subject quite simply blew me away. And as an interviewer she got me to tell things I never told anybody else. She quite literally took my breath and my “secrets” away.
This is an artist who knows what she wants and there’s no question she’s gonna get it! She’s the real deal and I feel real lucky we met and can call her my friend!
Go get ‘em Lucy!"
